FCTA To Shut Down Abuja Market Over Poor Sanitation

The FCT Administration has expressed concerns over safety and poor sanitation in Utako Market, one of the largest markets in Abuja.
The Department of Development Control, led by Mukhtar Galadima, warned that the market could become a “time bomb and disaster waiting to happen.” The authorities plan to convene an urgent meeting with stakeholders to address the sanitation issues and avert potential disasters.
Galadima also emphasized the need to prevent the market from overflowing into major streets and causing disruptions in the surrounding residential areas.
Additionally, concerns were raised about security threats and the presence of idle youths and suspected drug addicts in the market.
