The Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration will begin a three-day protest on June 30 to demand better staff welfare and resolution of longstanding grievances.
The protest, scheduled at the FCT Minister’s gate in Area 11, follows what the union calls “blatant refusal” to address staff concerns.
JUAC President Rifkatu Iortyer said workers have not been promoted since 2023, while salary issues and unpaid allowances persist.
The union is also protesting illegal deductions, poor training opportunities, and the suspension of the N70,000 minimum wage introduced in May but halted without explanation.
Key demands include stopping National Housing Fund deductions, resolving salary portal access issues, and paying arrears of wage awards and hazard allowances.
The union also wants reforms in the FCT Civil Service Commission and an end to interim leadership roles.
The protest is expected to paralyze administrative activities across the FCTA if unresolved. JUAC urged members to mobilize in large numbers, declaring: “We’ve exhausted all dialogue avenues. This protest is our last resort.”
