The meeting between the federal government and the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) ended without reaching a resolution. Both parties agreed to continue talks before the NLC’s 21-day ultimatum expires.
The NLC president insisted that only the Presidency, not the Ministry of Labour and Employment, can make decisions on the demands presented to the government.
The key issues of contention include the recent actions against the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) by the police and unresolved labor issues such as the non-implementation of wage awards, the lack of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and non-functional refineries.
