The Federal Government has announced that Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be observed as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
The declaration, made by Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on behalf of the government, marks the end of Ramadan and recognizes the importance of this holy period for self-discipline, compassion, and spiritual renewal.
In a statement by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated the Muslim community on completing their fast, urging citizens to use the break to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity throughout Nigeria.
He emphasized the value of continuing the virtues of love, generosity, and unity during the celebrations and encouraged all Nigerians to celebrate responsibly while extending kindness to the less privileged.
The announcement is viewed as a timely gesture to promote religious harmony and cultural pride in the nation, even as it coincides with ongoing discussions on broader social and economic reforms.
