The Federal Government has issued a security advisory to Nigerians living in Iran and neighbouring Gulf states, urging heightened vigilance amid escalating military tensions across parts of the Middle East.
In a statement by Foreign Affairs spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, authorities said Nigeria is closely monitoring the volatile situation and remains committed to the safety of its citizens abroad.
Nigerians were advised to limit non-essential travel, comply with local security directives, and avoid strategic or military locations that could become flashpoints.
Embassies in Tehran and across the Gulf region have been placed on high alert to provide consular support and maintain communication with affected nationals. The advisory covers Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
The government also warned citizens against relying on unverified social media reports, urging them to follow official channels for security updates.
Beyond safety guidance, Nigeria called for restraint among parties involved in the conflict, urging a return to dialogue to preserve global peace and stability.
The advisory reflects growing concern that regional escalation could endanger foreign nationals and disrupt economic and diplomatic ties, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to protecting its diaspora during international crises.
