FG Launches Probe Into Kaduna Armory Explosion

The Federal Government has set up a committee to investigate Saturday’s explosion at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in Kaduna, which killed two workers and injured four others.

Security analyst Kabir Adamu described the incident as “worrisome,” though officials say it occurred during controlled disposal of expired explosives.

Adamu noted that while sabotage has been ruled out for now, lapses in storage and disposal standards must be urgently addressed.

He stressed that as Nigeria ramps up local weapons production, safety protocols must be strengthened to prevent disasters reminiscent of the 2002 Ikeja cantonment blast.
