Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has announced that the government will observe a low-key celebration for the country’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
At a recent press conference, Idris highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to implementing transformative policies aimed at repositioning Nigeria as an economic superpower.
Idris pointed out that significant reforms, including granting local governments fiscal autonomy, are underway to enhance grassroots governance. He acknowledged the challenges faced during this transitional phase but reassured that the President remains focused on reviving the economy.
The minister elaborated on ongoing efforts to stabilize the economy, including transitioning to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for transportation and reducing costs.
He noted that the government plans to celebrate the anniversary with special prayers and a presidential address, while also addressing current food scarcity issues through temporary importation provisions and distribution of farm inputs.
Idris expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, asserting that the nation’s resilience will guide it through current trials and lead to sustainable growth.
