Two people have been killed at Tse Igbur in the Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
A resident, Joseph Anawah, said the incident happened on Sunday around 6pm.
The killing came barely four days after gunmen attacked Gbeji in the Ukum Local Government Area of the state.
According to Anawah, the two men were riding a motorcycle when they were shot dead by the suspects.
Anawah said, “Today, Sunday, October 23, 2022, around 6pm, Mr Aondona Saai and Mr Avalumun Ukerchia Adaa, all of Tse-Igbur in Ukemberagya of Ukemberagya/Tswarev council ward of Logo LGA, were murdered by armed herdsmen at Tse Ikem on the road near Anawah settlement between Chembe and Anyiin roads.”
The Chairman of Logo LGA, Salome Tor, confirmed the incident, adding that killings had been ongoing in her domain since August.
“The one on Sunday involved two men and a lady who were on motorcycles. They were ambushed; the incident happened around 5 pm, not even at night. They shot them and butchered them. But the lady among them fled into the bush; she was the one that came to inform us
The chairman said security men had been patrolling the area, but regretted that the suspected herders always hid in the bush to monitor movements.
The state police spokesperson, Catherine Anene, said she had yet to receive a report of the attack.
