Gunmen Kill 14 Mourners in Chibok Village, Torching Church and Homes

At least 14 villagers were killed and many more wounded when suspected Boko Haram fighters stormed Kopl community in Chibok Local Government Area on Monday evening.
The assailants targeted mourners gathered for a final‐day funeral prayer at around 6 pm, opening fire and forcing panicked survivors to flee.
Local government chairman Modu Mustapha initially reported seven fatalities; by Tuesday morning that number had climbed to 14 as rescue teams recovered more bodies amid fears the toll could yet rise.
Witnesses say the militants also set ablaze the village church and over ten homes, leaving Kopl entirely displaced. Many of the wounded were rushed across state lines to Mubi General Hospital in neighboring Adamawa for treatment.
Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume condemned the “daily carnage” in Southern Borno, highlighting an alarming wave of attacks across the region over the past month. “In less than four weeks, more than 100 lives have been lost in coordinated raids on Sabon Gari, Izge, Kirawa, Pulka, Damboa, Chibok, Askira-Uba—and now Kopl,” he said, decrying the lack of security reinforcements.
Calls are mounting for a more robust military response as communities reel from yet another brutal assault.
