The National Industrial Court in Abuja has barred the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) from embarking on its proposed nationwide strike scheduled for January 12, 2026.
Justice E.D. Subilim, in an interim ruling on Friday, ordered NARD, its leaders and members to refrain from organising or participating in any industrial action, including strikes, protests, go-slows or picketing that could disrupt healthcare services.
The injunction will remain in force pending the hearing of a motion on notice fixed for January 21, 2026.
The suit was filed by the Attorney-General of the Federation on behalf of the Federal Government against NARD, its president, Dr. Mohammed Suleiman, and another official.
NARD had earlier threatened to resume its Total, Indefinite and Complete Strike over the alleged failure of the Federal Government to implement agreements on doctors’ welfare, including salary arrears and allowances.
