FG Issues Alert on Anthrax Outbreak in Zamfara

The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has confirmed an anthrax outbreak in Zamfara, urging vigilance to prevent its spread. Anthrax, caused by the Bacillus anthracis bacterium, affects livestock and humans, with symptoms like fever, vomiting, and swollen lymph nodes.  

Director Ben Goong emphasized the importance of risk assessment, animal vaccination, and public awareness to mitigate the outbreak. Bordering states were advised to implement strict measures.  

The ministry assured the public of its commitment to collaboration with stakeholders for swift containment, urging immediate reporting of suspicious cases.
