Mpox, a zoonotic disease related to smallpox, can transfer from animals to humans. The World Health Organization recently warned of a new strain that may resist existing antibodies, posing a significant threat.
Symptoms typically include fever, chills, exhaustion, and a painful rash. Dr. Muhammed advises the public not to panic but to report suspected cases to health facilities for proper investigation and contact tracing.
This warning comes as health authorities aim to prevent the spread of the potentially deadly virus in Nigeria.
