The death toll from the Lassa fever outbreak in Benue State has risen to 13 across nine local government areas.
Efforts are underway to contain the spread, with health authorities emphasizing the importance of early detection to improve survival rates.
The state Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Yanmar Ortese, disclosed that the outbreak has led to 725 suspected cases and 55 confirmed cases, with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of 23.6%. The affected LGAs include Makurdi, Guma, Gwer West, Gwer East, Okpokwu, Obi, Ogbadibo, Otukpo, and Ukum.
