House of Representatives Mourns: APC Member Olaide Akinremi Passes at 51

The Nigerian House of Representatives is in mourning following the untimely death of Hon. Olaide Adewale Akinremi, the representative for Ibadan North Federal Constituency of Oyo State.

Akinremi, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), passed away on Wednesday after a brief illness at the age of 51.

Known affectionately as “Jagaban,” Akinremi was a distinguished and ranking member of the 10th Assembly, serving as Chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions. Colleagues remembered him for his unwavering commitment to his constituency and his nation, praising his advocacy for social welfare, economic growth, and scientific research.

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen expressed profound sadness, describing Akinremi’s passing as a great loss to the House, his constituency, and Nigeria. The late lawmaker was celebrated for his mentorship of first-time parliamentarians and his efforts to foster unity within the House.
