House of Reps Issues 7-Day Ultimatum to 19 MDAs for Non-Compliance

The House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Compliance has given 19 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) a seven-day ultimatum to appear before relevant House committees or face sanctions.

Committee Chairman Yusuf Ahmed Badau expressed concern over the increasing trend of MDAs disregarding parliamentary resolutions and invitations.

He emphasized that these resolutions are crucial for the House’s oversight functions and that non-compliance undermines legislative authority and public trust.

The affected MDAs include the FIRS, Office of the Accountant General, BOI, Ministry of Transport, FCTA, Ministry of Education, FHA, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, NESREA, Ministry of Women Affairs, NIGCOMSAT, UBEC, NSCDC, Police Service Commission, Nigerian Immigration Service, NUC, National Island Waterways Authority, TETFund, and FCMB.

The committee warned that it will invoke its constitutional powers and engage with House leadership to address the non-compliance.
