A devastating storm that hit Suleja, Niger state, on Wednesday night has resulted in the escape of 119 inmates from the Medium Security Custodial Centre.
The heavy downpour caused significant damage to the facility, including collapsed walls and flooded cells, allowing the inmates to flee.
The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) has swiftly responded to the situation, activating its recapturing mechanisms and collaborating with other security agencies to apprehend the escaped inmates.
So far, 10 inmates have been recaptured, and efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining fugitives. The NCoS has assured the public that it is working tirelessly to ensure that all the escaped inmates are rearrested and brought back to custody.
