Judge Stands Firm: No Recusal in Emefiele’s Corruption Trial Despite Bias Claims

Lagos Judge Rahman Oshodi has refused to step down from ex-CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele’s trial, rejecting defense claims of bias.

Emefiele faces 19 charges, including receiving $400,000 bribes, as testified by witness John Adetola.

Defense lawyer Olalekan Ojo argued prior rulings indicated prejudice, but Oshodi dismissed the motion, stating no evidence justified recusal.

The EFCC opposes the withdrawal, maintaining trial fairness.

Proceedings resume with Emefiele and co-defendant Henry Omoile contesting graft allegations linked to illicit financial transactions.
