Kano Government Agrees to Pay N3bn Compensation for Demolished Shops

The Kano State Government has agreed to pay N3 billion as compensation to the Incorporated Trustees of Masallacin Eid Shop Owners and Traders Association for the unlawful demolition of their property.

The compensation follows the demolition of shops on the order of Governor Abba Yusuf. Initially, a court ordered the state government to pay N30 billion as compensation, but the government refused to comply.
The traders then filed an ex parte motion seeking a Garnishee Order Nisi attaching the funds of the state government, ultimately leading to the agreed N3 billion settlement.
