The Kebbi State Government has declared Friday, June 27, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate the Islamic New Year (1447 AH).
This was announced in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Establishment, Pension, and Training, Malami A. Maiyama.
The holiday is intended to allow public servants and residents to mark the beginning of the new Islamic calendar year.
Normal work will resume on Monday, June 30, according to the statement.
Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, confirmed the holiday and urged the public to celebrate peacefully and in accordance with Islamic traditions.
The state joins other predominantly Muslim regions across Nigeria that observe the Islamic New Year, a period marked by reflection, prayer, and community gatherings.
