Nigeria’s organized labor has issued a one-week ultimatum to the federal government, threatening to commence an indefinite strike if its demands are not met.
The strike threat comes in response to the government’s failure to provide palliatives following the removal of the fuel subsidy.
Labor leaders criticized the government for providing insufficient palliatives, such as distributing a bag of rice to a dozen citizens while reportedly giving each member of the National Assembly N100 million.
The strike, if initiated, would disrupt commercial and economic activities across the country.
