Labor Unions Advocate for Higher Minimum Wage

Labor unions in Nigeria have proposed significant increases in the minimum wage during public hearings held across various regions.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) suggests a new minimum wage of N794,000, while the Trade Union Congress (TUC) advocates for N497,000.

These proposals reflect concerns about the eroding value of wages amidst inflation and economic challenges.

Additionally, governors and stakeholders from different states offer varying suggestions, underscoring the complexity of wage negotiations and the need for a balanced approach to address workers’ welfare effectively.
