
The Defence Headquarters has rolled out reinforced security measures across the country as Christmas and New Year celebrations approach.
In a statement by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, the military confirmed heightened deployment, intensified surveillance, and strengthened intelligence operations to forestall attacks.
Troops have been strategically positioned along highways and vulnerable areas, while air assets and special forces remain on standby for rapid response.
Enhanced aerial monitoring and intelligence-driven operations are underway to track criminal groups and safeguard communities.
Unit commanders have been directed to intensify patrols and fortify checkpoints in collaboration with local security formations and community leaders.
The Chief of Defence Staff also conveyed festive goodwill to Nigerians, urging vigilance and cooperation to ensure peaceful celebrations nationwide.
