The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) neutralized over 310 ISWAP terrorists and disrupted key logistical bases in 2024, Force Commander Major General Ibrahim Ali disclosed.
Through Operation Lake Sanity 2, MNJTF troops dismantled terrorist camps in the Lake Chad Basin and facilitated the repatriation of 30,000 refugees and displaced persons.
The operation led to the arrest of 160 logistics suppliers and the surrender of 800 terrorists and their families.
Significant arms and ammunition were also recovered, signaling dwindling support for terrorism. During a medal ceremony, Ali commended the troops’ bravery and acknowledged support from the Lake Chad Basin Commission.
Meanwhile, Defence Headquarters reported a fierce battle in Borno State where troops killed 34 ISWAP fighters attempting to retaliate for their commanders’ deaths.
Sadly, six soldiers lost their lives. The operation included airstrikes that destroyed fleeing terrorists’ assets, ensuring no escape.
Ali reaffirmed MNJTF’s resolve to eliminate terrorism, emphasizing cross-border collaboration and strategic planning to maintain regional stability.
