Nigeria’s national grid suffered yet another collapse on Tuesday, leaving much of the country in darkness.
According to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), the grid disturbance began at 1:52 p.m., resulting in multiple generator and line trippings. As of 2:35 p.m., no electricity was being generated, causing major disruptions.
In a statement, TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, assured the public that engineers were working swiftly to restore power, with supply to Abuja already resumed at 2:49 p.m., and other regions following.
The outage comes on the heels of similar grid collapses last month, prompting the Federal Government to pledge a permanent solution to the recurring issue. The TCN apologized for the inconvenience caused to households and businesses, emphasizing ongoing efforts to stabilize the national power infrastructure.
