Navy, Tompolo at Odds Over Niger Delta Oil Theft

A dispute has erupted between the Nigerian Navy and Tantita Security, a firm owned by ex-militant leader Tompolo, over oil theft in the Niger Delta.
Tantita accused the Navy of sabotaging anti-theft efforts, citing incidents of interference, including a recent clash in Port Harcourt.
Tompolo called on the Nigerian Bar Association to discourage lawyers from defending oil thieves.
The Navy dismissed the allegations as baseless, highlighting recent successes in cracking down on illegal refining and oil theft under Operation Delta Sanity.
Both parties remain firm in their positions, raising concerns over the region’s security.
