Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians by reducing fuel and food prices.
In a statement made in Abuja, Ndume criticized the sharp rise in fuel costs, essential goods, and services, which he says threaten the livelihoods of Nigerians.
He attributed the crisis to “bad elements” within the government who he claims are misleading the president with harsh reforms and misguided policies rather than addressing pressing issues like inflation and the exchange rate.
The Senator expressed concerns that the recent hike in fuel prices to N1,030 per liter, amidst economic challenges, is worsening the plight of ordinary Nigerians, particularly farmers who are struggling with high transportation costs.
Ndume, while expressing faith in Tinubu’s intentions, urged the president to resist poor advice and take swift action upon his return to Nigeria. He emphasized that the worsening economic conditions are straining the purchasing power of citizens, making life increasingly unbearable.
