The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has ordered workers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to mobilise and storm the National Industrial Court, Abuja, on Monday, in response to legal action taken against striking FCTA workers by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
NLC President Joe Ajaero announced the directive after an emergency meeting with leaders of the Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC), declaring that the national leadership had taken over the dispute.
The directive comes less than 24 hours after the FCT Administration dragged the striking workers to court over their ongoing industrial action.
Beyond courtroom mobilisation, the NLC also ordered compulsory daily prayer and solidarity sessions across the FCT from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., describing the struggle as both moral and collective.
Ajaero accused the FCTA of wage abuse, intimidation, and non-remittance of statutory deductions, warning that labour’s patience had been exhausted.
He said the strike would be intensified unless workers’ demands were met, describing the dispute as “a people’s struggle against bureaucratic oppression.”
