Northern Governors Condemn Plateau Killing of Kaduna Travellers

Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, has strongly condemned the recent killing of innocent travellers from Kaduna State in Plateau.

The victims were ambushed in Mangu LGA while en route to a wedding ceremony, a brutal attack Yahaya described as “barbaric and cowardly.”

In a statement issued by his media aide, Ismaila Misilli, Yahaya expressed deep sorrow over the killings and offered condolences to the families, the Kaduna State Government, and the people of the region.

He commended Plateau State authorities and security agencies for swift arrests and called for thorough investigations and prompt prosecution of all those involved.

“This is about justice and restoring public confidence in the rule of law,” he said, urging calm and restraint across affected communities to prevent reprisal attacks.

Yahaya stressed the need for unity and peaceful coexistence, reaffirming the Northern Governors’ Forum’s commitment to tackling insecurity and addressing root causes of violence in the region.

He pledged increased collaboration on intelligence sharing and community engagement to ensure such tragedies do not recur.
