The Forum for Growth and Development of Arewa (FGDA) has announced plans for a protest against President Tinubu’s proposed tax reforms.
FGDA argues that the reforms, aimed at streamlining tax collection and revenue optimization, would disproportionately affect the northern economy.
Convener Jibrin Mohammed stated that consultations and investigations revealed these policies would deepen economic hardship in the North.
The group condemned northern leaders supporting the reform and highlighted issues like existing poverty, insecurity, and inadequate infrastructure.
FGDA called on northern youths to join the protest, emphasizing that the region cannot bear policies worsening current conditions.
The protest aims to push the government to reconsider or halt the reforms.
