Obi Condemns Palliative Stampedes as Symptomatic of Systemic Failures

Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate, has expressed deep sadness over the loss of lives in stampedes during palliative distributions in Oyo, Abuja, and Anambra states.

He described these tragedies as reflections of systemic failures plaguing Nigeria. Obi questioned how, in a nation blessed with abundant resources, people are dying of hunger.

He acknowledged the kind intentions of the event organizers but emphasized that the incidents highlight the desperation driven by harsh economic conditions.

While offering condolences to the affected families and communities, Obi called for addressing the root causes of these tragedies and ensuring that such incidents are prevented in the future.
