Onaiyekan Criticizes Tinubu’s Reforms, Says Middle Class is Vanishing

Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the former Archbishop of Abuja, has called for a review of Nigeria’s economic policies, citing worsening hardship under President Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking during a Marian Concert in Abuja, he criticized the visible wealth of those in power amid growing poverty.

“There’s a limit to what people can handle. You can’t ask the poor to be patient while leaders live lavishly,” he said, noting that the middle class is disappearing. Onaiyekan urged policymakers to address the widespread suffering, emphasizing the need for more compassionate governance. (NAN)
