The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mourned the sudden passing of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, describing him as a “hero of political integrity” whose death leaves a painful void in the party and the state.
In a statement by National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the party said the news of the deputy governor’s death shocked the National Working Committee led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), as well as members across the country.
Ewhrudjakpo, widely respected for his steadfastness and honest leadership style, reportedly collapsed earlier in the day and could not be revived.
The PDP praised his reputation as a principled politician who lived by conviction rather than convenience. “He was a leader whose life was anchored on belief, integrity and strength of character,” the statement said.
The party extended condolences to the Bayelsa State government and residents, calling the loss “irreparable,” and prayed for God to grant him eternal rest.
Ewhrudjakpo’s death marks the end of a political career admired for its consistency, loyalty and commitment to public service, leaving Bayelsa in mourning for a leader many saw as a stabilizing force.
