Christian leaders in Plateau State staged a peaceful protest on Monday, calling for urgent intervention over continued killings in the region.
Led by Rev. Amos Mohzo of the Church of Christ in Nations, the protest under the Church Leaders Denominational Forum aimed to pressure the Federal Government and security agencies to act decisively.
Mohzo urged the creation of a robust community policing structure and rapid-response teams to protect lives and property.
He also called for thorough investigations into the attacks, demanding that both perpetrators and their financiers face justice.
“We need a transparent probe into the causes of these killings, including environmental pressures, poverty, and illegal arms,” he stated.
The protesters submitted a demand charter to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who received them at the New Government House in Rayfield.
Mutfwang assured the crowd that his administration was committed to ending the violence. “This insecurity has held Plateau back for over two decades,” he lamented, vowing justice for victims and reaffirming collaboration with President Tinubu to restore peace.
