The Kebbi State Police Command has launched a manhunt for gunmen who killed a couple in their home in Asarara village, Argungu Local Government Area.
The victims, Muhammad Haruna and his wife Habiba Abubakar, were attacked late Friday night by unknown assailants who broke into their residence.
Police spokesperson SP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed the incident, stating that operatives have been deployed to track down the perpetrators. He appealed to residents to provide useful information that could lead to arrests.
The attack has thrown the community into mourning, with neighbours describing the couple as peace-loving and hardworking. Security analysts say the killing may be linked to rising banditry in parts of the North-West.
Kebbi State has witnessed increased cases of armed violence, with bandits targeting remote villages. The police have assured the public that efforts are being intensified to bring the killers to justice.
The incident comes amid renewed calls for better community policing and intelligence-led operations to combat rural crime.
