The joint union of the Police Service Commission has demanded that President Bola Tinubu fire the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over alleged interference in the recent recruitment of police constables.
At a press briefing in Abuja, the union accused some top officers within the Nigerian Police Force of attempting to smuggle in names during the process. They further alleged that the police aimed to prevent the president from noticing the poor conditions of police training facilities, which are ill-equipped to properly train the new recruits.
Expressing anger, union members sang protest songs, describing the police hierarchy’s reactions as diversionary tactics. This comes after the PSC released 10,000 names of candidates successfully employed through their recruitment exercise, which the police rejected, accusing the process of being deceptive.
