2027: Ganduje Assures Yusuf of APC Ticket, Declares Kano Governor Party Leader

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has guaranteed Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf victory in the 2027 governorship election, assuring him of full party backing.

Ganduje spoke on Monday in Kano while formally welcoming Yusuf back to the APC, describing the defection as a major boost for the party ahead of future elections.

“You will win your second term in 2027. All aspirants have agreed to support you,” Ganduje declared.

Yusuf officially rejoined the APC on January 26, 2026, after resigning from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), citing internal crises and the need to protect public interest. He previously belonged to the APC between 2014 and 2018.

Ganduje described Yusuf’s return as a homecoming and affirmed that, in line with party tradition, the governor automatically becomes the APC leader in Kano State.

The defection has triggered major political realignments, with 22 state lawmakers, eight federal legislators, and all 44 local government chairmen reportedly defecting alongside Yusuf.
