The African Democratic Congress has accused authorities of selective law enforcement in the ongoing investigations involving former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami and ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said it supports the rule of law but warned that justice must be applied fairly and without political bias.
The party argued that recent enforcement actions against its members appeared inconsistent when compared with other high-profile cases in which defendants were granted bail and allowed to stand trial without extended detention.
ADC insisted that both Malami and El-Rufai remain innocent under the Constitution until proven guilty in court.
The party pledged to support its members as they pursue their legal rights and warned against any attempt to intimidate opposition figures.
Malami currently faces money-laundering and firearms-related charges, while El-Rufai is under investigation by multiple anti-corruption agencies.
The party said the cases should be handled transparently to avoid undermining public confidence in Nigeria’s justice system.
