ADC Warns of Exclusion, Presses Supreme Court for Urgent Verdict

A faction of the African Democratic Congress led by David Mark has urged the Supreme Court of Nigeria to deliver a swift ruling on its internal leadership dispute, warning that delays could jeopardise the party’s participation in the 2027 elections.

The group argued that the uncertainty—compounded by actions from Independent National Electoral Commission—has effectively left the party without recognised leadership, threatening its ability to meet electoral deadlines.

The crisis underscores deeper institutional weaknesses in Nigeria’s political system, where internal party disputes frequently spill into the courts, disrupting democratic processes.
