The Security Sub-committee for the All Progressives Congress National Convention has pledged to put in place a robust security framework to protect delegates, party leaders, dignitaries, journalists and other participants during the exercise scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026.
Chairman of the committee and Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, made the pledge at the panel’s inaugural meeting in Abuja.
He said the APC convention is one of the party’s most critical events, serving as a platform to renew leadership structures, strengthen internal democracy and reinforce its national vision.
Musa noted that the gathering would attract thousands of participants from across Nigeria and beyond, making it necessary to anticipate and manage complex security challenges in advance.
He said the committee’s task is to design and coordinate a proactive security architecture capable of preventing threats before they materialise.
According to him, the convention must be conducted in a secure, peaceful and orderly atmosphere that reflects the standards expected of a ruling party.
He emphasised that success would depend on close coordination among security, intelligence and law-enforcement agencies, with each institution contributing its unique capabilities within one unified operational plan.
He urged members of the committee to approach the assignment with seriousness, discipline and professionalism.
