APC Undermining Democracy with State Power – Nenadi Usman

Senator Nenadi Usman, Chairman of the Labour Party’s National Caretaker Committee, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of using state power to suppress opposition parties.

Speaking through her media aide, Ken Eluma Asogwa, at the ADC Global Award Night in Abuja, Usman said the APC manipulates institutions to intimidate, infiltrate, and co-opt opposition parties.

She said opposition members are pressured to defect, while judicial systems are allegedly used to destabilize rivals, eroding democratic norms. “This is domination masked as governance,” she said.

Usman admitted internal greed and ambition within opposition parties had worsened the situation, calling on leaders to rise above personal interests and present credible alternatives.

She urged parties to offer real solutions, not just criticisms, warning that without strong opposition, Nigeria risks slipping into authoritarianism. “Even the APC should know democracy dies in silence,” she added.

Usman concluded by calling for patriotism and visionary leadership, emphasizing that the real battle is not just about resisting the APC but about rescuing Nigeria’s democracy.
