Atiku, Amaechi join ADC, submit nomination forms

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi have officially submitted their presidential nomination forms to the African Democratic Congress, signalling a major realignment in opposition politics.

The two politicians, once fierce rivals, arrived at the ADC national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday alongside a large crowd of supporters. Their move is seen as an attempt to build a formidable coalition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2027.

Atiku and Amaechi have both previously contested for the presidency under different platforms. Their joint entry into ADC is expected to shake up the political landscape, though critics question their ability to work together given their history.

The party has welcomed them, saying it is committed to providing a credible alternative. The development has drawn sharp reactions from other opposition figures, with some accusing them of political opportunism.
