Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and his running mate Peter Obi have rejected the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal affirming President Bola Tinubu’s election. They have instructed their lawyers to appeal to the Supreme Court.
The tribunal ruled that their petition had no merit and upheld Tinubu’s electoral victory in the February 25 presidential election.
While Atiku and Obi had made allegations of irregularities and violence, the tribunal found their claims to be vague and unsubstantiated. The ruling, however, was not the end of the case as the candidates now prepare to take it to the Supreme Court.
The presidential election petition was hotly contested, with the tribunal ultimately dismissing the allegations made by Atiku and Obi.
Tinubu’s victory was upheld, and the petitioners failed to provide specific evidence to support their claims of election irregularities. The case now heads to the Supreme Court, where further legal arguments will determine its outcome.
