A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit challenging the leadership of the African Democratic Congress, affirming Senator David Mark as the party’s national chairman.
The court ruled that it lacked jurisdiction to entertain the case, which was filed by a factional group.
Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president and ADC chieftain, hailed the judgment as a victory for democracy and a rejection of political warfare in the courts.
The dispute had threatened to tear the party apart ahead of the 2027 elections.
With the legal hurdle cleared, the ADC now aims to position itself as a major opposition force. Political analysts view this as a crucial step for the party, which hopes to build alliances and field credible candidates in the next general election.
