The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed the election of Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, dismissing an appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mohammed Ashiru.
The court upheld the verdict of the Kaduna State Election Petition Tribunal, which validated Governor Sani’s election.
It noted that the PDP’s premature application for the issuance of a pre-hearing notice breached the Electoral Act, and the tribunal was correct in declaring the petition abandoned.
The court held that the evidence presented by the petitioners was legally incompetent, and the appeal lacked merit.
