Ex-Kaduna Commissioner Dumps APC, Joins ADC Ahead of 2027

Former Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, Prof. Muhammad Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau), has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Bello, who served as Director-General of Senator Uba Sani’s 2023 campaign council and is a close ally of former governor Nasir El-Rufai, announced his decision in a resignation letter dated January 7, 2026, addressed to the APC chairman of Dogarawa Ward.

In the letter, Bello thanked the party for the opportunity to serve but stated that his decision to withdraw his membership took immediate effect.

Shortly after his defection, the ADC announced Bello’s appointment as a member of its Constitution Review Committee, a key body tasked with repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The move is seen as part of growing political realignments in Kaduna State, as opposition parties intensify preparations to challenge the ruling APC in the next electoral cycle.
