The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit candidates for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
The commission announced that parties now have until midnight on July 14, three days beyond the original deadline, to upload the names and particulars of their candidates.
INEC said the extension followed an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), which argued that several parties faced difficulties meeting the earlier timeline.
According to the electoral body, the decision was intended to promote inclusiveness while remaining within legal provisions.
