The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Edo and Ondo states until June 9, 2024, to accommodate more eligible voters ahead of the governorship elections.
INEC’s National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Sam Olumekun, announced the extension following appeals from stakeholders.
The CVR will now run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm daily, with the number of registration centers increased to include all Local Government offices in both states. Additional machines will be deployed to areas with challenging terrains or communal issues.
So far, over 120,000 new voters have registered, with a significant number of youths and students participating. INEC has urged eligible voters to utilize this extension to register, update, or correct their personal information on their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), warning that no further extensions will be granted.
