NNPP leader and 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has declared he would only consider rejoining the All Progressives Congress under “strong conditions.”
Hosting former APC stalwarts from Kano led by Buhari Bakwana, Kwankwaso said he and others were founding pillars of the APC in 2013 and suffered political persecution for it, only to be sidelined later.
He insisted that any talks of merger or defection must clearly outline what benefits the NNPP and its candidates would gain, stressing that the party has structures nationwide.
Kwankwaso recalled that APC’s eight years in power yielded nothing for him or his allies, while the PDP once rejected their modest demand for a zonal chairmanship.
“We won’t be used and dumped again,” he warned. Still, he said NNPP is open to fresh negotiations if approached with respect.
His comments come amid growing political realignments ahead of 2027, with parties quietly courting influential figures to bolster their ranks.
