The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that the petition to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central did not meet the constitutional requirement.
INEC made this known in a statement via its official social media handles on Thursday, citing Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution.
Reacting, the embattled senator accused INEC of aiding petitioners to perfect their petition despite alleged irregularities.
Addressing supporters in Okehi LGA, she claimed the petition was submitted on a fake letterhead of an unregistered group, Kogi Central Political Frontier, with a nonexistent address.
“I don’t know whether this process will be stalled, but we are in court,” she stated, vowing to challenge the recall process.
