The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has named Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Prof. Nentawe Yiltwada, as its new National Chairman. He succeeds Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down on June 27 amid mounting pressure.
Yiltwada’s nomination came during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma, put his name forward, which was swiftly seconded by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Tajudeen Abbas.
The appointment signals a fresh chapter for the APC leadership, as the party prepares for key off-cycle elections and future electoral contests.
The NEC meeting, which is still in session, is expected to deliberate on broader reforms and internal party unity following recent tensions.
Prof. Yiltwada, a technocrat and former university lecturer, is known for his digital innovation background and humanitarian work.
His emergence may reflect a strategic shift by the party to reposition itself as performance-driven amid growing public scrutiny.
